The Party of European Socialists will discuss progressive policies to fight the economic crisis and boost growth and jobs on the European level in a meeting at the Château de la Celle Saint-Cloud – in the vicinity of Paris – this Thursday, 25th of August, 2016.

This will be the second time the PES leaders meet in Paris this year – the previous meeting was on 12 March -, and it is the 5th meeting of our leaders this year.

The Progressive Summit is hosted by the President of the French Republic François Hollande and the PES leader Sergei Stanishev. It is co-hosted by Prime Minister Manuel Valls, Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, and State Secretary for European Affairs Harlem Désir.

In Paris the progressive leaders will also discuss the no’ vote in the British referendum and other challenges that the European Union is facing right now: migration crisis, terrorism, relations EU- Turkey.

The high level progressive summit will take place just three days after the meeting between President Hollande, Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel.
